About Toro National Park

Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve (commonly called Toro National Park) is a scenic savannah reserve on the floor of the Albertine Rift Valley in western Uganda. The reserve covers 548 square kilometres of grasslands, acacia woodland, and riverine forest between the Rwenzori Mountains and Lake Albert. Toro offers classic savannah game viewing with elephants, Uganda kob, waterbuck, buffalo, warthogs, and over 460 bird species. The park is particularly known for its raptor populations and the shoebill stork sightings along Lake Albert's shores. It is one of the few places in Uganda where game drives on open plains are possible.
